Farewell, to thee, o worldly wealth!
Farewell to thee, my safety net!
Whatever’s left, shared out
Among the lepers and the poor,
Rejoicing at the deed that’s done!
The Sun to boot, the birds in flight,
Heaven’s companions on our pilgrim path
With comrade souls – to live the Gospel,
Bearing the Good News – to the despondent
To those that hunger and thirst after justice
To those that are lost,
To people no less, men and women
That they may learn to live again,
That they may learn to laugh again,
That we may learn to live and laugh!

Das Gebliebene - mit den Armen,
mit den Aussätzigen - geteilt,
froh
noch dabei,
und Sonne - und Vogelzug - zum Begleiter,
mit Gleichgesinnten
- das Evangelium leben,
es weitertragen - zu den Mutlosen,
zu den
Entrechteten, - zu den Verlorenen,
überhaupt zu den Menschen,
damit auch
sie, - damit auch wir
wieder leben lernen,
wieder lachen können.
